The City of Sunnyside is seeking applicants to fill one vacancy on the Council Salary Commission and one vacancy on the Sunnyside Planning Commission effective immediately.
Council Salary Commission: Consists of three members appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by the City Council to serves a four-year term, and no more than two terms. Officers, officials and employees of the City and their immediate family members are not eligible to serve on the Commission. The appointee would fill an unexpired term through January 2014. The Commission meets no less than once each year. The Commission shall consider information regarding salaries paid to the City Council members from comparable cities.
Sunnyside Planning Commission: Consists of seven members appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by the City Council to serves a four-year term. The appointee would fill an unexpired term through June 2014. The Commission is responsible to consider all amendments, modifications or alterations to the City's comprehensive plan, to conduct hearings as otherwise specified by law, to hear, review, and recommend proposed annexations of the City, and to perform other planning functions as required by the City Council and state law. The Sunnyside Planning Commission meets each calendar month or as needed.
