Councilor Jason R. Raines was elected to the Sunnyside City Council in November 2011 for a four-year term.  His term (Position 5) will expire December 31, 2015. 

Councilor Raines has lived in Washington since 2005. He was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee.  Following graduation from a public high school, he attended Auburn University in Auburn Alabama, on a four-year Army ROTC scholarship.  He graduated with a bachelor's degree in Management Information Systems. 

After moving to Washington, Councilor Raines was selected to participate in the Alternate Route to Teacher Certification program through a consortium of Washington institutions headed up by Central Washington University.  He completed the program and received a teaching certificate with an endorsement in middle level mathematics.  

Memberships
Councilor Raines is a member of the Sunnyside Chamber of Commerce and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3482 in Sunnyside.  He and his three children actively attend a church in downtown Sunnyside.
