Assault with a Firearm

Sunnyside, WA- At approximately 2:40 pm this afternoon, Sunnyside Police Officers were notified of a man who had been shot in the 1600 block of McBride in Sunnyside. Upon arrival Officers contacted the victim, Perez-Ruelas, Edgar, DOB 09/26/1983, who had been grazed by a bullet on the left side of his back. The investigation shows that the suspect, Zapien Avina, J Jesus DOB 12/25/1973, fired three .45 caliber bullets through the door of his residence at the Perez-Ruelas when he knocked on the door. The suspect then fled the scene in a maroon 1990 Mercury Cougar, Washington license plate 694ZAN. The suspect should be considered armed and dangerous.
