Attempted Armed Robbery

Sunnyside, WA- Shortly before 4am this morning Sunnyside Police Officers responded to a robbery in progress call in the 100 block of W Lincoln Ave in Sunnyside. The suspect entered the store with a mask and long coat on while the clerk was in the back. The clerk viewed the suspect on the store security cameras and called police at that time. Officers Russell and Lemmon responded and viewed the suspect inside the store. After several commands the suspect raised his hands and a loaded .22 caliber rifle fell out of his coat. At that time Officers took the suspect into custody. The suspect, Contreras-Mendoza, Domingo DOB 12/06/1988, was transported to the Sunnyside City Jail and held under investigation.

            City of Residence: Sunnyside, WA

            Charges:           Attempted 1^st degree armed robbery

                                    Unlawful possession of a firearm

Additional Information:

• This is Sunnyside Police Department case number 09-8843.
• Nothing was taken from the store, and no one was injured in the attempted armed robbery.
