Early Morning Pedestrian Accident
Sunnyside, WA- Shortly after 7:00 this morning Sunnyside Police responded to a traffic accident in the 900 block of Yakima Valley Highway. The driver, William Swails, of Grandview was traveling in an eastbound direction in his 2001 Dodge Ram truck when three juveniles crossed Yakima Valley Highway mid-block. With the sunlight directly in his view, Swails did not see the crossing juveniles when the oldest, a 12 year old female was struck by the truck. The other two a 10 year old male and a 7 year old male were not struck by the vehicle however received minor injuries from the residual situation. The female was treated at a local hospital and is being transported to Harborview; the extent of her injuries is unknown at this time. The two males were treated at a local hospital and have been released.
