August 2nd Event to Take You to the Final Funktier
Sunnyside, Wa. – On August 2, 2010 the Sunnyside Police Department is excited to be collaborating with HAPO Community Credit Union and the Sunnyside Chamber of Commerce to bring Sunnyside an out of this world event! Located at the Sunnyside HAPO branch at 322 S 6th St, this event will feature a sidewalk chalk art contest, barbecued hot dogs, a banana split bar, bouncy houses and Recess Monkey. Recess Monkey is a nationally renowned children’s band from Seattle who was recently awarded four stars by People Magazine as an upcoming group to watch! Their most recent album, The Final Funktier, was released earlier this year and has received excellent reviews!
The sidewalk chalk art contest will be separated into three categories 3-5 years old, 6-9 years old and 10-12 years old. The theme is “Dream Big” and children are encouraged to draw what they dream of, for themselves, their families, their community and the world. The contest will be judged by various community members and prizes will be awarded to the top two winners in each category. You can sign up for the event by contacting Charlotte Hinderlider at 509.837.2120 or emailing chinderlider@ci.sunnyside.wa.us. There are only 25 spots available in each age group, so call or email early!
The is a unique opportunity for the Sunnyside Police Department, HAPO Community Credit Union and the Sunnyside Chamber of Commerce to work together to bring an amazing free, family event to the citizens of the City of Sunnyside. Please join us between 5:30- 8:00pm to Dream Big and head to the Final Funktier! This event is in cooperation with our annual National Night Out event. National Night Out block parties will take place on August 3rd at various locations throughout the City of Sunnyside.
The Sunnyside Police Department’s mission in associating ourselves with the National Association of Town Watch is to accomplish four broad goals: 1) Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness; 2) Generate support for and participation in, local anticrime programs; 3) Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships; 4) Send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.
