Firefighting today is truly one of the most dangerous and demanding professions. Because of the unpredictability of emergency calls, a firefighter must be able to respond immediately to any situation.
This department is made up of 15 career staff and 25 volunteers. Thay take great pride in their endeavor to provide an "all hazards" protection to the community and surrounding areas. We provide full fire protection, public education, and fire prevention services to 6 square miles inside the city and advanced life support transportation services to a large portion of the Lower Yakima Valley.
