The Sunnyside Swimming Pool is scheduled to open

June 13, 2009 at 1:00 P.M.

 

General Information

OPEN SWIM HOURS:

1:00 PM to 3:00 PM and 3:15 PM to 5:15 PM

FAMILY SWIM HOURS:

5:30 PM to 7:30 PM

EVENING RENTAL HOURS:

Monday through Sunday, 7:45 PM to 9:45 PM

MORNING RENTAL HOURS:

Saturday and Sunday, 9:00 AM to 12:30 PM

 

Rates & Fees

DAILY ADMISSION FEE:

$2.00 for children 4 to 7 years old.

$3.00 for 8 years to adult.

Free - for children 3 years & under; no fee when accompanied by an adult, whose admission fee has been paid.

10 Swim Passes:

$15.00 for children 7 years and under.

$25.00 for 8 years to adult.

 

Season Swim Pass Information

Individual Pass:

$65.00 in-city and $68.75 non-city.

An individual swim pass can only be used by the person to whom the pass is issued.

Family Swim Pass:

$150.00 in-city and $187.50 non-city.

The family is considered the mother, father and their immediate minor children, all of whom live, in the same household.

If passes are used and/or given to someone that is not listed as the registered pass owner, the pass will be voided without any refund of fees paid.

Season swim passes are sold only at the Sunnyside Recreation Office located at the Sunnyside Community Center, 1521 South 1st Street.

Swimming Lessons: 

poolSwimming lessons are available Monday thru Friday for two weeks. Registration is conducted at the pool, during regular Open Swim Hours.


$25.00 In-city and $31.25 non-city.

Swimming Class Descriptions

SALMON EGGS - TINY TOTS Infants age 1 to 3 years old.  Parents (or an adult) must be with child in the pool at all times.  Class is designed to aid the infant in adjusting to the water.  Basic Skills Developed: Kicking while being held by parent, holding breath, blowing bubbles, is comfortable in the water, supported back float and has fun.

TADPOLES ~ ADVANCED TINY TOTS Infants age 1 to 3 years old.  Parents must be in pool with child at all times.  Class is designed to further aid the infant in adjusting to the water.  Basic Skills Developed: All listed in Salmon Eggs, plus knowing some of the basic pool rules, trusting parent to hold infant in water, back float, getting infants eyes wet, ears wet, nose wet and whole face wet.

POLLYWOGS ~ PRESCHOOL Youth 3 to 5 years old.  Class is designed for beginners with little or no exposure to the water.  Basic Skills Developed: Water adjustment, water entries, supported  front & back floats.

GUPPIES ~ ADVANCED PRESCHOOL Youth 3 to 5 years old. Transition class between small and big pool. Youth must be able to float on front and back without any help. Skills Developed: Supported Front and back glides, flutter kick, and introduction to arm strokes.

MINNOWS ~ LEVEL 1 Water Exploration. Orientation to aquatic environment and elementary skills.  Learning Objectives:  Water adjustments, buoyancy, basic breath control, water entries and front and back floats.  Successful basic breath control, water entries and supported front and back floats, Successful completion receives Level 1 Water Exploration Certificate.

DOLPHINS ~ LEVEL 2 Primary Skills.  Build on fundamental aquatic, safety and rescue skills.  Participants must be able to float on front and back without any help. Skills Developed: Flutter kick, introduction to front crawl and back combined stroke.  Personal safety skills will be stressed along with some deep-water exposure.  Successful completion receives Level 2 Primary Skills Certificate.

SAILFISH ~ LEVEL 3 Stroke Readiness.  Participants must have completed Level 2.  Skills Developed: Further development of front crawl and back combined strokes and deep water exposure.  Successful completion receives Level 3 Stroke Readiness Certificate.

BARRACUDAS ~ LEVEL 4 Stroke Development.  Participants must have completed Level 3.  Students must be deep water safe.  Skills Developed: introduction of elementary back stroke. Successful completion - Level 4 Stroke Development Certificate.

SHARKS ~ LEVEL 5 Stroke Refinement.  Participants must have completed the Level 4. Skills Developed: coordination and refinement of key strokes. Sidestroke, breaststroke, and endurance training. Successful completion -  Level 5 Stroke Refinement Certificate.

SWIMMERS ~ LEVEL 6 Skills Proficiency.  Participants must have completed Level 5.  Participants will continue endurance training and introduction to turns. Successful completion -Level 6 Skills Proficiency Certificate.

ADVANCED SWIMMERS ~ LEVEL 7 Advanced Skills.  Participants must have completed Level 6. Participants will continue endurance training. Successful completion - Level 7 Advanced Skills certificate.

ADULT LESSONS Classes are offered during Adult Noon Swim 12:15 to 12:45 PM, other times can be discussed with pool manager. Instructors will work individually with adults on improving their level of swimming.
