Jail Information

The City of Sunnyside jail is a modern 97 bed facility that operates out of the Sunnyside Law and Justice Center located at 401 Homer Street.

Booking

When an individual is booked into the Sunnyside Jail they are fingerprinted using an electronic fingerprinting scanning machine and a digital photo mug shot is taken and stored for records. All of their property is taken for safe keeping and stored until the inmate is released.  Inmates are issued uniforms and bedding for the duration of their stay. All individuals booked into the jail have their files screened by the Department of Homeland Security – Immigration, to verify their citizenship and legal status in the US.

Visitors

Inmates are allowed two 30 minute visits per week.

Visiting hours are:

8am-10am and 7pm – 9pm Sundays and Wednesdays.

Visitors are accepted on a first come first serve basis.

Property for inmates is accepted during visits and may only consist of 3 pair of WHITE T-shirts, 3 pair of boxers, and 3 pair of WHITE socks. All clothing must be marked with the inmates FULL NAME, DOB or the inmates JAIL ID NUMBER. Female inmates may also receive sports bras. Bras with under wires will not be accepted. Inmates may also receive envelopes and stamps.

Inmate work crews (Trustees)

The jail kitchen and grounds maintenance are operated with inmate labor. Inmate workers provide over 26,000 hours annually to the City of Sunnyside and the community. All inmates that apply for this program are screened so that only low risk offenders are accepted.

Inmate Mail

Inmate mail is passed out daily or as duties permit. Inmate mail must be addressed as follows:

The only items accepted in the mail are letters; packages containing inmate clothing described above must be marked properly and mailed in a box the size of an average shoe box. Mail that has PERFUME, STICKERS, LIPSTICK and other items will not be accepted. Explicit photos and gang photos will not be accepted.

The City of Sunnyside Jail contracts bed space with various cities and counties in the state of Washington as well as state and federal agencies.
